The Collings MF5 O is our fully-appointed F-model with a carved seasoned Adirondack spruce top and premium maple back and sides. The oval sound hole accentuates the bass and low mid response while providing a warm, open tonality that is rich in overtones, while the f-hole models offer more cut and chop in comparison. With its superb tone, elegant styling, and unmatched playability, the MF5 O is sure to please the most discerning eyes and ears.
MF O vs MF5 O
While both models share the same body shapes and dimensions, the MF is a fully-satin lacquer finish mandolin with simple appointments. The MF5 O is more highly-appointed and features an all-gloss lacquer finish on the body and neck, ivoroid binding on the top, back, fingerboard, and peghead, and our Flourish peghead inlay.
