Mandolins

Mandolins are some of the most intricate instruments we make in our shop, and their diminutive size further adds to the complexity to their construction. Each mandolin side is bent with a combination of heat and steam, and each top and back are hand shaped and voiced while establishing their final arched contours. Tops are braced with contoured spruce in an X or dual tone bar pattern using a traditional “go-bar” clamping system. Intricate flourishes like the risen F-scroll of our MF series of mandolins require extra attention, with 8+ hours of hand sanding applied to each one before moving on the finish.
